What exactly is cerebellar atrophy
I am not medical doctor, neurologist or anything related. I am suffering from cerebellar atrophy (labeled as a kind of ataxia) aiming to understand the disease.
The causes of cerebellar atrophy are various. Ataxia is a disease, should it be attached to a different brand ie: cerebellar, and many others, such as Friedreich ataxia which means it is a symptom.
“Trouble the coordination of movements as a result of an organic lesion”
Atrophy of the cerebellum will be the dictionary online “encyclopedia Amsterdam-” a reduction in weight and volume of the cerebellum as a consequence of inadequate nutrition of the cells or to a capital asset ie: stroke and so on..
According to the Webster via the internet
“Atrophy from your loss or destruction of ringing in the ears, nerves or nutrients. It could be pathological (atrophy of the liver on account of cirrhosis), but physiological (thymic atrophy in adolescence and of the uterus after menopause). The treatment of atrophy is possible only to the extent there’s still a little normal appendage or tissue may grow. ”
The following imagine shows a healthy together with right cerebellum, some cerebellar atrophy
A lot of the atrophy of the cerebellum are Friedreich ataxia but some people who had atrophy or injury to the cerebellum caused by FOR EXAMPLE: face treatment paralysis, accident, stroke, drink abuse, malformation of the cerebellum with birth etc… Most of them possess a non-hereditary cerebellar atrophy.
In most cases people who have
this kind of atrophy in the cerebellum have no brain degeneration and atrophy or injury to the cerebellum remains stable
Although the majority of ataxia called “unknown” are genetic, it is rather hard if not impossible in some cases to know exactly if the person is suffering from a hereditary ataxia or not.
(Inside my case, I’m sure that my great-great grandparents to the maternal side and paternal been around in Beauce, Quebec but it’s extremely tough to determine whether there ended up being intermarriage between them, causing a lot of ataxia and it’s even harder if you find yourself to be the only person in the family of ataxic cousins, etc…)
But there are neurologists who are experts in the research of new varieties of ataxia that were caused through the intermarriage of our ancestors.
These are typically neurologists geneticists ie: Dr. Bernard Brais, etc… Dr. Nicolas Dupré
They usually are few in Quebec, but because of them, there are fewer and fewer cases of hereditary ataxia anonymous.
Whether it is a genetic ataxia or not, this is not pleasant in any way, but whether or not the person with ataxia is a bed that is hereditary or not is a very important factor to know, just for knowing should it be likely to pass this damn disease to your offspring.
